How to make a sliding box

Hello. I am looking to construct my own sliding box for my vaulters. I had some homemade ones in college, but do not remember the measurements or the exact process. Any suggestions?

Haha, good try. I put in for the 'pulleey' on our Track wish list, I figured I need both and would have more trouble making the pulley.

Almost $300! No way in hell should anyone pay that much for a sliding box! Think of how many wood ones you can make for $300!

It doesn't have to be exact.

1 4"x4"x8" for the back stop

2 2"x4"x15" for each side.

1 1"x 15" x 24" piece of plywood for the bottom

Use 3" wood screws to piece it all together. countersink them in the bottom so the box slides easily.

It'll cost like $10 bucks and it'll last a season.

We could make them in like 20 minutes after the initial prototype.

I had a couple kids in the wood shop class build me 4 of these for a project and they are pretty much indestructible because they used pressure treated wood and sealed all the joints and screw holes.....

Have had them for 4 seasons now....

Ok, heres the deal... I do camps all the time and I have constructed the most affordable and efficient slide box around. Sure its home made but this is how it works.

Go to wallmart. buy 2 small sterlite storage boxes usually they are grey or blue in color. Run them long ways and cut down three sides leaving the top open. Place a ten pound wieght in between them and seal it up (ducktape use 102)...

Slides awesome on a track, grass, concrete. etc. Here are some pictures if you need.
Honestly the storage boxes are about $3-$4 each and the weight at walmart is about $10. PM me for questions.
as far as the pulley drill I make my own also but it takes time and a bit more money... the ones I make are ovver half the price they sell them in the catalogs. -Vaultiletics

Wish I had done this instead of constructing a wooden one... I can't use my wooden one on our track or turf FB field - just on grass.

ok, i checked the link and it looked like great product, but i would still put those funds toward the pole unless money was no object.

speaking of money is no object, this is one of my favorite overpriced items(i should note that ucs spirit makes great products, so i dont mean to pick on them, but come on, it is ribbon attached to a stick for > $400)
