This is a forum to discuss advanced pole vaulting techniques. If you are in high school you should probably not be posting or replying to topics here, but do read and learn.

do you agree ... disagree.. did petrov say this.. did someone else say this..

is it fact or fiction??

The pole cannot pull vaulter forward. The pole resistance is directed down. If the pole is dropped right there will be no additional resistance and therefore no pull of any kind.

thank you...

i think we have a similar vision on the physics involved.. i just miss or need clarification sometimes not to misunderstand..

a "free" pole drop is helpful.. but most don't understand the concept.. gravity will help bring the tip down.. the vaulter just doesn't need to "interfere" and time it properly so the "tip is down and the grip is up" just before takeoff...

something like that dj. There are however more things involved. For example the timing of the start of the drop position of hands, etc. However, I think it does not (anymore) pertains to a particular vaulting school Russian or American. Everyone is doing it with some variations. What is truly different, by the way Russian school lost it lately, is the focus on athletic output in every part of the jump (vault).

Yeah, that is cool. What the research basically says is that as long as the* first letter and last letter are in the correct spot, we read it as the same word, right?

EDIT: more grammar mistakes

The information is all around us. We all receive it. I pray that I am not to noisy to distinguish it.
