Geez, north central is unbelievable...three all americans (1,6,8). Anyone there who could share some vault by vault analysis?

I wasn't there, but I have done many camps with their coach and I can assume pretty safely that the form on every jump was great. Techniacally sound.

d3 nationals

Unread postby wesleyanvaulter » Mon May 30, 2005 2:54 pm

Yes I was there, and Wis Lacrosse and NC both have some solid jumpers. NC has a pretty good coach, but most of there jumpers are small and really really fast. THey were all tall and fast down the run way which led to a great invert and push off. When the NC kid made 16 11 it was amazing cause everyone was expecting lacross to go 1,2
Next year it will be a even better competition with three schools having more than half the field.

Yeah, it was intense when they were sitting 1,2. I've seen Deloria do some impressive things though when it matters most, thats exactly what he did..

It will be interesting next year to say the least

How does that work...I always thought that if both had one miss, the one with the miss at the lower height got the higher place...am I wrong on that or am i reading the results wrong?

i believe the ruling is, after both vaulters are at, look at the last cleared heigh. who ever has fewer misses at this height places heigher. if they are the same, then it goes to total misses

If I'm interpreting the results posted by "achtungpv" correctly, there is a tie at 3.72m as both cleared on their first attempts and both having the same total number of misses over the entire competition.

Was there a tie-breaker jump off for this event that wasn't listed in the results?

Apparently there was. This is from the meet website:

Pole Vault - Stephanie Barnes - University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire - 12-2.25/3.72m
“I am very, very excited. It’s overwhelming to be a National Champion. At first I thought that it was over and I was really upset and just bawling. Then I heard about the jump off and just thought that I had a second chance to go get it. It was my first attempt in the jump off and I knew that it would be close with the other two girls, but I was very excited about the win.â€Â
Fight the good fight: It's nice to be great but it's far greater to be nice.
