Day 5

Albuquerque, NM to Barstow, CA

Some beautiful New Mexico scenery

The road

Wow. I bet that is like authentic Native American art too :P

Good. I was sick of all those dirty restrooms.

Yay! I love being stuck behind nuclear waste on the freeway!

In case you miss the first sign, they provided a second.

We stopped at the tourist area for the Petrified Forrest National Park. Now I don't know what it is, but everytime I drive cross country, we meet up with large groups of bikers! My dad and I got stuck in horrible traffic in South Dakota last summer, when we ran into all these bikers leaving Sturgis.

Anyway I wasn't exactly sure why all these bikers were here. Something to do with Vietnam.

Below are some shots from the gift shop

Well if you insist...

Yikes!

Yay for bikers. An essential part of any road trip.

There are a lot of giant dinosaurs along the road. We didn't stop at the place they were promoting though. I probably should have posted more pics, but that's ok ;)

Here it is! Yay. I got a cool t-shirt from the Jackrabbit that no one understands.

Next stop: Winslow, AZ

That is all a painting on the side of a building.

So I guess there is some famous song about standing on the corner in Winslow, AZ... this one went way over my head, but my mom was appreciative.

More scenery

We ate at this place in Kingman, AZ. Good food. :)

There was an eclipse. It really was not that impressive, but my dad called us to remind us to look at it, so I got a few pics on my camera.

We passed through the agricultural checkpoint in CA safely enough, and headed into Barstow, CA for the night.

Day 5 - Barstow, CA to San Luis Obispo, CA.

Return to Athens to Seattle
