In college we had a decathlete who we would not let use any of our poles B/c he was like 220. So he had to vault on a 190 16' black catapole that he called black benny. Evidently there is a song with that theme. He would always walk around singing, Oh black benny

More to Follow . . .

One of our green skypoles was named "lester" @ 130#,12'

Sadly, Lester is gone now due to a spike about 5' from the business end. May he rest in pieces. O:-)

Actually, I stripped the tape off to use his larger member as a "teaching tool". He had 32 spike punctures, two bus seat dings and 60% tape on him when he went.

IN HIGH SCHOOL LAST YEAR LOL

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Fri Oct 03, 2003 12:28 am

IN high school in 1969 to be exact I had a STP oil sticker on my pole.
The reason was I had so much pole swing I needed to Stop That Pole from hitting the crosssbar that at that time was a miss if it did!!!.

We had a pole at Purdue we called the "wussy Pole". (grr....damn language filter...start it with a P) If you were having problems taking it it up or running through you had to take the rest of your jumps in practice on a pole with "P-U-S-S-Y" written in big black permanent marker on it.
