It should be noted that Silva jumped a 5.77 (18-11) NR last month that went unnoticed.

It's a shame it was bad weather, that was probably the deepest PanAm field ever. It had all the makings of being a great competition.

That is an understatement, I saw a little bit of it on ESPN. The conditions were horrible.

Pole Vaulter Dominic Johnson missed out on a bronze medal, finishing fourth in the men’s pole vault in the final night of Track and Field competition of the 15th Pan American Games, which ended in Rio De Janeiro over the weekend.

In an interview following the event, Johnson remarked: “It was definitely very difficult conditions, but I prepared myself starting yesterday, but I knew that many athletes would have a difficult time in these conditions. All but four failed their opening heights.â€Â
