I think other high school vaulters join me in saying this of nico's success...
weeaaakkkk.

lol just kidding, the guy is talented and even if it means id have to pull off a miracle to compete with him, i would love to see him jump as high as he possibly can. This year will be really exciting.

Its fun to watch from a distance, but it wont be fun when he's your main competition on the way to state...

Yes. He can compete this year. And he will probably go to college in the US too. So, be prepared for the possibility of having a German vaulter hold our national HS record.

Hey. We're all immigrants here (except maybe for native Americans). Nico just happens to be more recent ;)

We'll just put the part about him being German in small font next to his record to make America look better :)

Nico is an amazing talent, but he is a long way from our high school record. I hope he jumps as high as possible, but it is unlikely that he will jump that high this year.

my 2 cents

He is going to get the high school record no problem, and yes it will count in the record books. A good question is...What college is Nico going to go to? Who is he looking at?

I think he will too, probably indoors and outdoors. Here's why:

1. Not many saw it, but he *barely* missed 17-10 last year.

2. He's grown at least an inch.

3. He's *much* more fit this year; faster and hitting the weights hard.

4. He's getting the top of his vault straightened out.

Regarding colleges, my understanding is that he's open to going anywhere that has a good program and will give him some financial aid. Most of his exposure is obviously to California schools.

Best of luck to Nico and his coach (I met him in Reno, but can't remember his name)! Great talent with huge potential! It will be fun to watch his progression!

Nico's coach at Los Gatos HS is Brandon Vance. He is a big part of Nicos success. Great Vaulter, great coach.

Ya Brandon is a good coach, he has been involved with helping some good jumpers. I think that he will help Nico get it done.
