Ok over the summer i was at a meet and i broke one of my poles and blew through my other two. So one of the guys there let me use his 15' 165 CarbonFX(which i pr'd on) and I really liked the pole. Now that the seasons coming around im looking to buy some. I was looking at a 14'6 and a 15' but im gonna wait to buy the 15' untill i see how i do on the 14'6''. Heres the problem the Gill Athletics website only shows the 14'6 CarbonFX's at 140,150, and 155lbs. My question is do they make them at other weights im looking for one at 175lbs.

They'll make almost anything if you ask nicely enough (and pay for it)

The website is probably just showing what they have in stock.

Gill discontinued making the 14'6" carbon fx series last year. The ones that are listed on the website are leftovers that they had in stock. The reason they discontinued them is because they are making the MYSTIC carbons in 14'6" and according to Bryan Carrel of Gill Athletics, they are nearly identical to what the 14'6" carbon Fx poles were, so there was no reason to continue making both.
They will however make you a 14'6" carbon FX but it will cost you the 15' price (at least that's what it was last year when I asked).
I was sad that they stopped making the 14'6" carbon fx series. Fortunately I own all of them from 140 to 180 by 5lb increments (and a few by 2.5 lbs)....I just hope none of them ever break cuz I love em'.

i don't see a difference in the carbon fx and the carbon mystics series for 14'6. i actually like the carbon mystics series for the 14'6's better and have jumped well on them when i was one them. the glass seemed a little stronger, not that it would be comparable between jumpers i guess, but it worked for me and just cause they say mystic on them doesn't mean they aren't good poles. haha i loved beating people on my 14'6 carbon mystics gripping right for me while the other guys would jump on a 15 foot carbon fx over gripping and just not doing smart things. I jumped 16 over a bar in practice on a 14'6 carbon mystic and 15'7.5 in a meet. there is nothing wrong with the new series i think, and they are making alot smaller carbons too for girls which i think is great too.

I have another question too...This will be my first indoor season(because im choosing to do it over wrestling because thats what the D1 schools ive talked to said i should do...) Im stuck between buying a 14'6 175 or 180 pole... I wieght 171 right now. my only concern is i dont know how indoor run ways compare to outdoor ones. I guess my question is are indoor run ways slower or faster and are they long enough for like a 92' approach(because my coach said some of them are shorter then outdoor run ways)?

What poles do you already have?

Some indoor runways are shorter. Sometimes there are high school meets where you can't wear spikes. You should find out if your school goes to any meets like that, and if so, get some distance flats. They are like spikes but with rubber nubbies on the bottom instead of metal spikes. They're cheap too, $40 or less.

the last meet i went to i blew through a 14' 165 and then a 15' 160 holding at about 13'6 and then i got on a 15' 170 holding at the same spot and i had a hard time getting deep because it was so stiff...

The thumb rule for moving to a longer pole is,
1) the pole you are on is 10 to 15 pounds over your weight
2) you have maxed your grip on the pole
3) you are jumping over your hand hold

THE RULE IS YOU MUST JUMP ON A POLE RATED AT YOUR WEIGHT OR ABOVE

you should really be jumping on a pole 30 pounds or more over, because if your on a 14-180 and go to a 15 foot holding the same place, a 15-160 will be about the same, yes it gets 'softer' the higher you hold, but its that much harder to get into the pit.

Just make sure that you dont go up too fast...
