21:43 : There's a miss for Feofanova. She'll place behind Badurova, having one miss at 4.75 while Badurova had none. Pyrek will now try to leap over them both.
21:45 : No go for Pyrek. The medals are decided now: another gold for Isinbayeva, then silver and bronze for Badurova and Feofanova, respectively, at 4.75m.
21:45 : Isinbayeva will continue to vault, of course.

Looks like a bail out for Isi.

21:51 : Isinbayeva has set the bar at the what would be a world record height of 5.02m.
21:53 : First attempt: no clearance. Isinbayeva does not even get inverted.

21:59 : The whole stadium is clapping together as she stands on the runway.
22:00 : No clearance on the second attempt, either, but at least this time she got her feet over the bar. One attempt left.


It wasn't a baad attempt but it was not particularly close either.

Probably a translation problem, but judge said the vault was disallowed because of illegal assistance from the standards. Polnova bounced the bar, but the bar end stayed on the peg but rolled onto its side. Apparently no Volzing call, so this is very peculiar.

I think the judge called it a miss because the peg rolled on its side. My understanding is that this is NOT a miss. Am I wrong? Or are the officials in Japan trying to compete with the officials in Athens?
