It's not the same, you don't have 30 guys at the same time do you? Besides, it's definitely not the same for my country where I'm already qualified for the Worlds this year and the Olympics next year (we just have to jump 560).

true.. however its the same boat for everyone. i dont think its a perfect system.. but its def. makes for some interesting results. next year they are moving a bunch of schools into different regions to try and balance some things out. the regions wont really be divided by geography anymore. its kind of strange. the regional system is just kind of designed to give more people a shot at getting in. indoors for example, you have 16-18 people go. outdoors you get up to 28 people at the ncaa championships. it just lets more people have a shot. now maybe an answer is to take the top 30 jumps and take them all out and have prelims like the current system, but then the schools out east who get no nice whether the entire year are at a decided disaadvantage. i think thats a also large part of why the indoor and outdoor systems are set up like they are. like i said its def. not perfect. i used to be scared out of my mind the night b4 regionals.

hey question... do you mean your already qualified for your trials or how does your system work. cuz unless your the top guy, you need 70 to meet the iaaf A standards. just curious

and another quick question. what year were you born. i feel like i saw you at meets forever, and i read in your other thread that you still have eligibility. just wondering

Actually, for the regional system, the only thing I think they should fix is that there should be two flights and all would be ok. I was just unable to warmup, I had problems with my approach and I couldn't fix them with two jumps in one hour due to 30 athletes on the runway.. so that kinda totally screwed me up that day. Not to mention how stressed I was the night before.. But I do agree that it's a good preparation for your trials. It's tough in USA!

In my country (Slovenia) I am the only one with the B standard, so we don't need any trials. If there is only one with the B standard, you automatically go. And that's the same for the Olympics and for the Worlds. I know, I am REALLY lucky to be Slovenian, you guys have 9 guys that made the A standard! But the nice thing about that is -- whoever makes it through the trials, has a great shot at getting a medal at the Worlds! Which is of course not true in my case, 560 surely doesn't bring me that high.

I am born in 1984 so I guess I should be a senior, but we actually go to college one year later than Americans, so this was the reason why I still have one year left. BUT, I graduated and I want to concentrate on track now that I am already confirmed for those big meets. I don't want to go to the Olympics with 560 so I'll try to go even higher for the next year.

yeah thats a great idea. just need to find locations that can do it in all regions. im sure theyd have to have the same options for everyone.

I'm trying to get into that Cuxhaven meet on July 14th. Other than that, my schedule is (scheduled to be):

June 28th - Velenje
July 8th - Padova
July 14th - Cuxhaven
July 22nd - Lapinlahti
July 28th - Slovenian open nationals
August 8th-18th Bangkok, University Games
August 21st Osaka for three weeks
Then street meets.

hoepfully by then i can stop jumping like crap. things are a bit rough since surgery... i cant get my grip up very high or my step out. when i went 5.46 last week, i was only gripping 4.75 with a step in at 3.75. owchhhh. its not that low a grip until you consider that im about 193 cm tall. oh well. itll come
