physical obstacles

Unread postby chsvaulter » Sun Apr 29, 2007 1:40 pm

So what is a guy to do when he is 5'2" 130 lbs. and using a 10' pole and trying to get over 7' ???(ya pretty lame huh) i Could'nt even get over that in the last three meets weve had even though coach says my form is really good.

what really annoys me is when the kid that is 6'5" gets over it his first try and basically just holds the pole in any odd way and barely has any frick'in form at all. I on the other hand must get everything right just to get up in the air

alright here are some things that might help

1. make sure you're driving hard. form is nothing without a good drive
2. make sure you're locking your arms
3. be sure to pull your body up.
4. make sure your feet stay close
5. punch

if you get me a video i can probably help more but... hopefully this is a start

Work on speed. I know someone who is 5'7-5'8 jumping close to 18' feet, beating any 6'5" guy in and most in college. He does it by being incredibily fast and using all his energy the right way.
The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph
