Wow I have never intended this post to live this extravagant life.

On the sad note however I must say that it seems that we are doomed for another 20 years of 19 ft vaulting.

It is possible, it is just going to take a while to find the perfect person. A few high school guys have gone over 18 feet. I know that there are girls as fast or faster than those guys. If a girl can come and be that fast, be able to long jump well, have a little gymnastics work, and have the right technique, (the petrov model) then it is definetely possible. The same thing could also create a 6.40-6.50 jump for guys. We just have to wait for the right gal and guy to be athletically and technically great.

I've always said, give Jackie Joyner Kersee a pole and she would have jumped 5.50.

lindsay taylor is faster and stronger than a lot of guys. I believe she jumped 14'6" in 1 year of training. If she would have started earler and had the right coaching and model she could have jumped way up there.

Absolutely. I am about 6ft tall and when I met her in person she towered over me (she had on heels but still). Combine that with 24ft + LJ ability, teach her to vault and 5.50 would be reached easily.

I think there is more to it than just size, but I agree in principle.

Mo Green was fast, but I don’t know if he could ever vault high. Running 9.8-10.2 on 100m and 26-27 LJ is desirable for 21 foot, but running 10 m/s - 10.2 m/s at the end of the approach with the pole is more desirable.

Lindsey Taylor had a very good coach, Dave Nielson, Idaho State University and Stacy Dragila's coach for many years, but due to the fact she started at a late age she maybe did not reach her full potential. 14'6" in one year is incredible.

Lindsay is as good of an athlete as there is in the country. Technically though she could be a lot better. I am of the opinion she could/can jump higher.
