i was writing a story about these guys who lived on the sea for english one day and someone asked me what it was about. i brilliantly burst out, "its about seaman!" yea...that went over well

A lot of the advice I give my vaulters just doesn't sound right out of context.

Attack the box.

Dominate the pole.

Just ride the pole.

Then there are the just plain wrong.

Pole vaulters do it inverted.

I knew a guy vaulting in Texas when a girl asked him how big his pole was. "16 feet" he said as he was putting his pole back in the case. "I wasn't talking about that one" she said. His response: "Neither was I".

Too much innuendo in this sport.

Wow. there were so many of these that I liked.

The pv girls @my hs have a joke of our own. "How many girls does it take to put the pole vault mats away? None. If you ask , the boys will do it for you." That came form one day at practice when there were only two guys vaulting and 5 girls. Coach said that the girls had to put the mats away. Then the other guys came in from their workout and the coach told us that the guys might help us if we told them how hot they were. The guys told us to leave and they'd handle it! They said that they liked to help. Coach said, that, or you just like girls!
