So back to the original topic... Tommy jumped on his 5 meter poles the whole meet. He started on a 15.3 flex, then went to a 14.8, 14.4, and finally a 13.9. He was holding at 16'2" and his standards were at 75.

So is he ready for 5 meter poles? I'd say yes :P

I don't know. I am sure PVJunkie or Decamouse could tell you.

They are CarbonFX.

It is pretty tough to make a weight determination in 5m (+) poles that is anything like what we deal with in smaller poles. Decamouse could be much more specific than I can, but anything bigger than a 15.0 is going to be "about" a 200lb stick. After that - well - just say it is a 14.2, 13.9, 11.4 ect. Big poles don't need weights attatched to them for us to know that they are big!

As for is Tommy ready for 5m sticks? Only he and his coach know for sure, but the fact that he raised his grip 3" and jumped 2" lower than his last meet does not speak too well for how well he has them working. Just because he can get in the pit on a 5m pole does not mean he is going to jump higher on it.

Peace,

Barto
