Spirits are excelent poles but my school,(I jump on 16ft spirits in meets) had a 14 180 and 185 skypole, I figured Id mess around and do a short run on them. They are sweet 14 foot poles I jumped 15-6 gripping only 13-10. My coach always ask me to sell them to him becase at 38 yrs old he can still go 16 on them! We jumped the crap out of them this year and I would say you will be satisfied! He says those and altius are good at 14 ft along with essex, which I would recomend second at 14 ft.

I hate giving advice when I never seen u jump but if your on a 13 spirit now, whats the weight? Man based on experince I would cap the 14ftrs and jump on the biggest weight you can? Its the easiest way to jump right, consistent and high! Whats your pr? whatever it is you should jump 15 to 15-6 if everything goes right, you just gotta keep getting on the stiffer poles w/ same grip. Oh and a slow swing is what were working on, the key to fast swing is keeping your hips back long as possible then bam youll be upside down super fast. Were practicing staying back long as possible while still being able to catch it. Hope this is useul to you!

lol, advice is all im askin for.....but i REALLY gotta get a video of my jumps on the computer.. neways, i was on the 13' pole 30 pounds oever my weight. and i got a good plant/takeoff, and decent speed, so my new coach is gonna try to put me on 14'-14-6 poles, prolly 10-15 pounds over my weight, when i start training w/ him next week. Now if i can nail the form, that shud put me into the 15-16' range. neways, what do you mean by "keeping your hips back"?? people tell me thats how u get up much faster, but im not sure what u mean by that.

We learned it over stiff poling. Grip high as possible and try to keep from swinging through( try to delay swing period). Bet you cant we couldnt until about 2 weeks later. Pretty much keeping your hips back involves a good takeoff, keeping your head down and keeping that trail leg back long as possible. An easier word to use is to stay down long as possible if you can get some film on Derick Miles, Joe Dial! They do it to an extreme!

Go to advantage athletics and look at the svetlana and suttle comparisons, Kellies hips arent bad but you can tell the differance it makes! Also watch this guy stay patient and stay behind the pole perfectly!

Yea I've always heard keeping the left leg long and driving the pole longer will store more energy in the pole. Keeping the left leg(trail leg) long and straight all the way through helps you stay driving the pole longer. I have just started learning to do this because before I would curl up the trail leg too soon.
