Pole had to be nicked

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Tue Feb 27, 2007 12:17 am

That pole had to have been dropped or nicked it failed in the roll of the energy up the pole. Failure was due to a weak spot or scratch.
I hate seeing any brand pole breaking. Catch these poles people please.

Unfortunately, her left hand was cut open pretty bad. She had to have stitches on the inside and outsid of her hand wrapping from the palm around to the top of her hand. Hopefully she will be ok. Lon

does she use chalk when she vaults? i had the same thing happen and i use a lot of chalk. i thought maybe it had something to do with the size pole that was broken, but the more i talk to people the more it seems its something else

I don't know if she was using chalk, but I've seen that cut happen 7 or 8 times. I think its more the location of the breaking of the pole below the bottom hand. I broke my thumb from a break in the same location. I think its the shock of the pole breaking. It either breaks the thumb or rips open along that grove. LB

The hand gets ripped open due to the vibration. The vibration can also break/fracture a finger/knuckle.

She got WAY underneath

Didn't really look like she "jumped" but just hung on, got under and BOOM.
Hey, my daughter vaults...I just watch.
