Vaulters and Coaches,

GOOD NEWS: This evening (Monday, November 14) the lumber for the new Gold Country Indoor Pole Vaulting facility was delivered to William Jessup University. The facility will be located in the large WJU warehouse (same building where our gym floor is currently located). I want to thank those who have helped raise over $1900 in funds to purchase the materials in order to build a Raised Plywood Runway and Platform for the landing surface. Now that we have the building materials on hand, construction may begin.

The WJU Athletic Department has just purchased modern weight and plyometric equipment to house in the same facility. Kevin Hills, one of our new WJU students (a Pole Vaulter who transferred from American River College) is assisting me with the facility and he, as you, is anxious to begin vaulting practice.

Naturally, we could use a large amount of other vaulting equipment such as poles, crossbars, and other necessary equipment. We also need some dense foam material and/or some old high jump or PV pit sections to place around the landing surface.

Those who wish to make a tax-deductible contribution for these items may send a check to Christian Team Ministries, 1025 Grange Road, Meadow Vista, CA 95722 or they may make an online investment to CTM by clicking this SECURE link:

Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to help with this new project, as well as send me the names and e-mail address of other vaulters who would be interested in continuing to practice vaulting throughout the Fall-Winter season and beyond. (Scroll down to see the information letter sent out to vaulters and coaches):

Hello Pole Vaulters and Vault Coaches,

You are receiving this announcement because you are a Pole Vaulter, Coach, Parent of a vaulter, and/or a Vaulting Enthusiast. William Jessup University administrators have given us the authorization to develop an Indoor Pole Vaulting facility the large WJU warehouse, located in Rocklin, California.

This opportunity came about because Casey Griffin, Roseville High School Athletic Director, and Curt Hobbs, Roseville Track Coach, has graciously offered free use of their modern Pole Vault Landing Surface, Standards, Crossbars, and a Roll-out rubber runway to be housed in the large WJU warehouse (same building where our gym floor is currently located).

Student athletes from our area high schools and their coaches are becoming excited about this proposal and it is anticipated that frequent numbers of high school students and coaches from several schools in the northern California area would also be utilizing the WJU Vaulting facility for regular scheduled training sessions. Future opportunities could also include occasional PV clinics and coaching seminars. Because of the current governmental use permit restrictions; however, we will not be permitted at this time to host indoor Pole Vault competitions that would bring in spectators.

To meet all the legal and insurance regulations required by WJU, we would run the program through the "Gold Country Pole Vaulters" (a division of Christian Team Ministries, a sanctioned club of USA Track & Field), as well as through "PV-Safety-Certified" High School and College coaches who submit to WJU a required Certificate of Insurance from the coach's school. School/College certificates of insurance must show proof of General Liability, as well as proof that Workman's Compensation and Auto Insurance cover the coach. More to come later about this. The simplest and quickest way to become involved and to be covered by club insurance is for all vaulters and coaches desiring to have access to the facility to register each calendar year in the USATF as members of Christian Team Ministries (USATF club # 106). To be an official competing or coaching member of the club you must register with the USATF. Members of USATF receive secondary accident insurance while competing in and traveling to USATF sanctioned events and our club practices at WJU. The annual fee for a membership to USATF is $20. Members may fill out a form and pay their registration at their first practice session or they may enroll on-line at the following website (Be sure to enter our club number 106 into the online form):
