Info on California schools needed

Anyone have any info on UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, Stanford (ha! ), or any other schools in CA?

Jon Takahashi is his name. I dont know about the coaching, i just know that there is a decient jumper there. about the other schools, i couldnt tell ya, sorry.

Jon gradauted a few years ago and there is a different coach now.

The coach there now is Jack Hoyt, he was at Seattle Pacific in Seattle before. He is a really great guy. I almost went there for grad school a few years ago, but I ended up stretching out my undergrad at Lindenwood instead.

Cal Poly is vastly underrated as a vault school. Check out their top 10 men's list. It's right up there with any of the top vault programs...4 or 5 over 18'. They've also got 2 NCAA champs on the women's side.

Cal Poly has a good vault program- they have a 17'er there right now, 3 or 4 other guys that are 16' caliber jumpers... They were thin on the girls side this year..

UCSB-(santa barbara) Has been in and out with vault coaches there the past few years.. THey go through coaches very quickly....

UCSD(santa barbara)- There coach is a really cool guy, seems to know the vault real well too. I think its a D2 school, but they do real well for D2... Their track is beautiful too.

Standford- dont know anything about them- great school gorgeous track. they had an 18'er there this year...

CSUF (fullerton)- im bias because i'm an assistant coach there. Good vault facility- getting a new track this year. Should have 4+ guys over 16' this yera, and looking to have 3 girls over 13'.....

CSUN(northridge) coach is real cool! seems to know her stuff- they had a 17' guy there this year, and an incoming 12'er JC transfer... they're an up and coming vault program ...

The best thing about Cali vaulting is that you can vault outdoors year round.

The worst thing is that when the weather gets wet, there are next to no indoor training facilities.

Many of the schools do not participate in the Indoor seasons.

Good and/or bad - Very little travel (mostly within the state) but the meets are high quality because the PAC 10 schools are always at meets, and the other UC and CSU schools show up as well. Many meets have a good number of "unattached" vaulters also. Example UCSD meet has 2 divisions for both men's and women's - over 40 vaulters.

Mt Sac Relays draws an "elite" group.

Most schools (except privates such USC, Stanford) are still broke from the budget crisis if a few years ago...so money is tight. Many of the big ones with great reputations only offer partial scholarships.

Lots of high quality NAIA schools with some money.

CSUN- IS LOOKING TO BE A FORCE WITH THERE VAULT PROGRAM. A 2 YEAR COACH WHO WANTS TO BUILD HER PROGRAM. THEY HAVE A RETURNING 17' SENIOR AND A FRESHMAN WITH LOADS OF TALENT!
