Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be putting up a new eBay listing soon. With this one, I'll let viewers know that they can enter any amount they wish to donate.

Hey is this MATTatat! Jake vaulted 5.71, and I made my opening at 5.30. Pauli is blowing up man it is sick. After 5.71 he went to 19'.25" and ...seriously now, not kidding, peeked 4 inches in front of the bar, but he could have cleared 19'6" with that jump. Sure he piked and his hip height was high, but he had 19'6" with his chest height. I took 3 at 5.50 came away from the stick and came down on the bar.

We didn't have to wait till 11pm to vault this time so that was a little better. I think we started warming up around 10pm this time! There were so many vaulters and we had two pits running. I think this week's meet will have less vaulters.

yeah those meets are bringing in a lot of people this summer--more than usual anyways. nice work on the 5.30, its getting to be pretty consistant for ya. keep up the good work buddy.

I don't know that we are going to be at anymore of those meets, if that changes or something, im sure youll hear about it.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone donated anything yet? I'm an emerging vaulter too, and pretty much the advice I've gotten is "jump higher", so it'd be encouraging to hear if you have any success.

What this sport really needs is some commercialization. There's a few big meets where there are no uniform regulations, so I was thinking about going around asking local businesses to buy square inches of my uniform for advertising, sorta like NASCAR...

My success in raising money

Unread postby UWvaulter » Mon Jul 17, 2006 11:03 pm

I have had some good success with donations. One guy donated money on my eBay so that was cool. I also made a sponsor DVD and went door to door at businesses. Businesses wouldn't sponsor me unless I was involved in a group or large event. But I did meet some good contacts and one lady raised me enough money for some sticks. I should be getting them soon. I am so excited! Good luck and ask everyone you know. Just take the positive feedback and run with it. People will at least be inspired by what you are doing even if they say no.

Oh, I also thought about the selling a spaces on my shirt. Go for it, but ask as many people as you can. I think at this stage people are more concerned about helping someone succeed than getting recognition since the sponsors are individuals and not businesses. GOOD LUCK!
