Locking Out Left Arm

Unread postby lancerman12 » Sun May 18, 2003 10:47 pm

I am a 13 foot vaulter and i lock out my bottom arm right off of the ground, and i keep it locked out for the entire vault. It's really killing my vault and my left shoulder. Any suggestions on drills and the like to correct this would be appreciated.

I'm also a 13' vaulter. I press out immediately after takeoff, too. The thing that I do differently is when i start swinging up, i let my left (lower) arm collapse and pass through the inside of the pole. this allows me to roll back much further. If you do it correctly and fast enough, a bruise might develop on your forearm from all the energy being released at the right moment.

good luck to you
