Props to Hardee
I've read through a few articles talking about how Hardee failed to defend his decathlon title after failing to clear a bar in the vault. While this is completely true, I feel that the articles failed to emphasize how he managed to acquire over 7200 points. He was roughly 600 points behind the winner, Jake Arnold of Arizona.
Getting over 7000 points in the 10 events is quite a feat (atleast to many), but getting over 7000 points in 9 (and failing to put a mark in one event) is an even bigger accomplishment. Our team's best decathlete is capable of 7100, but fell short of the 7000 mark by 118 points.
While many of the articles make it appear that Trey Hardee is a failure to up-hold his title, I believe Trey should be applauded for sticking to it and accomplishing an incredible feat -- over 7000 points in 9 events. So my props to you Trey. Way to go man!!!

He is coming back for indoor next year! Mississippi State dropped indoor while he was there, so he still has one more season.

I completely agree with you Scott. The media tends to just focus on the extremes: whether you win or lose. Bringing up the point that he was able to get such a high score with only nine events is what I think really matters. Yes, he couldn't defend his title, but everyone here knows how pv competitions can be. What he did in the other 9 events is just a testament to his amazing athletic abilities (and should probably be what he can take from this meet). So,
GO TREY! GREAT JOB!
I even got to meet him today. I can't wait to see what he does in indoor.

vaultmd nailed it - he ran a solid 1500 - finsihed the two events after his no hgt and came real close to a top eight finish - scoring a point or two for the team -

Trey,
I think you are unbelievable. The vault can be a killer some days. John thinks you are the greatest athelete. I saw part of your performance and you will just keep winning and winning. Keep it up
