help for knee pain please?
help for knee pain please?
i have knee pain in my left knee... anyone know something to help it before i vault? i went to a doctor, she told me to quit vaulting... i said no so i was kicked out of her office!

I tore my meniscus (the little gel-like disc seperating the bones in the knee) last summer, and now anytime that bothers me I just use a knee brace or ace wrap, which helps take some pain away, but it still hurts
You might just need rest, if your season is over, i'd advise you to rest. not quit entirely, just rest for a while, then see what happens

if it is really bothering you, you might want to prioritize your sports. If any one of the sports is extremely important to you, you might want to lay off the others and give yourself time to rest!

yea its better to get it healed so you can come back strong, rather than jump back into it 2 or 3 weeks early only to re-injure it and not progress. That doctor should understand you WILL pole vault, and she should let you. Ask a doctor how much recovery time to take and how to build back into it, dont take "no vaulting" for an answer.

knee pain
I used to have pain in my knees all the time from the way my feet were aligned, or something like that. I got some prescription insoles for my shoes and it went away. You might want to consider geeting something to lessen the impact when you run.

A big cure ive found for a lot of aches and pains in your feet is strengthening your calves, and trying to stay on your toes at all times when you run. This is hard to do, and takes a week or two of jogging to build the muscle, but basically there is no pounding to your joints, because you kind of bounce with your toes as you run. Just make sure you do it slowly, and ice your shins after you do it, because thats a good way to worsen shin splints if you already had them somewhat. Ive been doing that the past month and i used to have a lot of trouble with my shins, now i rarely feel it.
