It was just the screenname I've had forever. Something to do with Rainbow Brite.

The 28 is because my birthday is June 28.

My name is Doug and my dad's name is Doug so I became Bubba to avoid confusion around the house when I was growing up. I probably know 100 Bubbas, Buddys, Jr.s etc. in Texas. During my 24 years in Southern California I went by Doug because they didn't speak "Bubba". I was only Bubba to vaulters.

To further prove a point, at my 30 year high school reunion in Houston, no one ever knew my name was Doug. Friends I knew for years would say, "I never knew your name was Doug". As they say in Texas, "Oil Well".

Have fun! Bubba

a very long time ago i had a website called Achtung! Stabhochsprung! which is poor german for Warning! Pole Vault! achtungpv was a lot easier of an email address than achtungstabhochsprung, so there ya go. Also, it's german and it rhymed...sort of. Germans are funny.

Just realized I've had my username 10 years.

Well one day at a xc practice a one of my friends said I look like that guy from Top Gun, in refrence to Mavrick, or Tom Cruse, yet he had never actually seen the movie. The nick name stuck and one day I actually wore sunglasses that look similar to aviation sunglasses, and most of the team said that i did look like him from the movie.

So yeah the nick name has just stuck w/ me and after I looked up the definition to the word I addopted it.

The numbers are simply my birth month and year.

1yeldud1 -- Well I'm - was - a softball catcher for years - the major brand of softball at that time was "dudley" . Hence I threw the softball back and got called "yeldud" Strange but it stuck.
