pointing toes

Unread postby mcook » Thu Apr 06, 2006 2:58 pm

My vaulter is having the hardest time not pointing his toes at the top of his swing. He knows everytime he does it and it frustrates him that he cannot seem to dorseflex his feet. As soon as his toes point, his feet begin to swing out and its keeping him from clearing 14' right now. Are there any good drills that will help him to lead with his heels and not his toes. Would a longer pole be a temporary solution while he continues to work on the problem in practice. :crying:

There are even better drills to improve his take off and whip. :D

If your vaulter is already technically perfect in every other aspect of the vault and getting a differential of 36 inches plus , then i apologise for my flippant response. However if not, I suggest you reconsider your coaching priorities. ;)
