Beginner to Bubka Author Coming to Texas!! Yahoooooooooooo!

Unread postby Bubba PV » Tue Apr 04, 2006 9:06 pm

This afternoon Kris Allison of Lone Star Pole Vault, and my home base club, The Woodlands Pole Vault, came to an agreement with my friend, Australian author and coach extraordinaire, Alan Launder, to do a three day clinic at The Woodlands High School, 40 miles north of Houston. The clinic will be on July 6 and 7 with a competition on Saturday, July 8, 2006. Watch for entry information at www.bubbapv.com. The fees will be very reasonable so more people can come, including free admission to parents and coaches who enroll athletes. I will post when the information is up in a couple of days.

Having known Alan since just before the 1996 Olympics, I’ve spent considerable time with him and have hosted his he, his wife and many Australian athletes at my home when I was in California. After reading his book I was blown away by how much such a book was truly needed. I believe it is the definitive textbook for any serious vaulter or coach. With that said, Alan informs me he’s extended his research and writings beyond BTB and will present this new information at our clinic.

We are truly privileged to have him join us and it will be great to again spend some extended time with one of the greatest and most experienced minds in our event – and a very dear friend. Let’s all make Alan feel welcome in Texas!! Bubba

Alan will also be cooperating with Jeremy Bailey, the womens coach at BYU, to lead a camp to held near Chicago from June 2nd to the 4th and then assisting at three of Mark Hannay's camps at Slippery Rock from June 11th - 29th.

Will probably be travelling by road from Chicago to Slippery Rock via Fort Wayne, Ind. and Columbus, Oh. between the 5th and the 11th of June - if anyone along that route is interested in a coaching session or mini clinic.

If it can worked out - and there is any interest - could be in the Minneapolis area for a clinic July 1st and 2nd.

Just a titbit - watched Dimitri Markov do a session from 12 steps yesterday - he was 6 inches in the air before the pole tip hit the back of the box on virtually every jump! :D
