Men's Pole Vault Final
Sunday 12 March 2006
The USA’s Brad Walker had looked serious both in the qualifying and for most of this final until he was sure he had the gold in his possession. It may be partly his nature, but there was another good reason for his caution: “I had a small accident during warm-up yesterday so I wasn’t sure I would be able to compete,â€Â

Jeng grew up in the same area of Göteborg that Christian Olsson did... Jeng moved recently into a new apartment in another part of town. Did you know that Jeng first particiated in fotboll, then boxing before turining into a track & field athlete (he is a 2.00m high jumper as well). He first got into the track & field scene as a 14-year-old when watching the 1995 World Championships at Ullevi Stadium in Göteborg. He got a good look at Sergei Bubka:s acrobatics, and became fascinated with the vault right away.

Brad jumped 16' his senior year, 14'0 his junior year, 14'0 his sophomore year, and lower than 12'6.25 (the lowest my WA frosh boys list goes) his freshman year.
Also jumping 16'+ that year (1999) were
Tim Morse Shorewood 11 16-4
Jared Drake Mount Si 12 16-0
Rick Collins West Valley (Spokane) 12 16-0
Andy Kammenga Squalicum 11 16-0
Christian Lee Kentlake 12 16-0
