Ray scotten [b]“I don’t want texas to win. If they were a bunch of better guys it’d be a little easier to take. But when they walk around, all prancing around, like a bunch of jerks, you don’t want those people to win.â€Â

Here is the online article, but I guess the print article is longer because that quote is not included online.

I was there, and I was there 2 full days. I also live about an hour from Devaney, so I see alot of Nebraska track. I saw nothing out of the ordinary from the Texas team. Not all of us here are against you guys, and I was impressed by the 2 days worth out of Kilmartin.
Good luck in Fayetteville. I will be there watching!

I apologize for the coments made...Ray is generally a good guy just probably got caught up in the emotion. Ray's comments do not reflect the views of the Nebraska track team, or any of the individuals....Hats off to Texas they had a great meet and are one hell of a team. We knew it was going to be a battle...and they brought their A game! I think most of us feel that the comments were uncalled for and disrespectful...and I apologize again for the way the comments came off, and the anger im sure it caused!!

I was taken back a little too. I've meet many of you including Ray at meets at NYC Armory, Penn Relays and more recently at the Tyson and I thought highly of all of you guys. Great bunch to work with. I'm sure I'll see you at a future meet.

I can understand where Ray is coming from. I've felt the exact same feelings toward monster sweet teams before. Doesn't matter which sport. Childish? Probably. But don't act like your completely above feeling envious about something that someone else has. If you don't ever feel envy, then you probably aren't human. I don't condemn Ray Scotten, because the guy is 100% competitor. Anyways, good luck with the rest of indoor season, and the beginning of outdoor.

I was there also and I thought I was seeing a great championship track meet. There was lots of cheering for everyones favorite team or individual and great performances. One of those great performances was Ray Scottens'. I was one of those in attendance wearing burnt orange and I was cheering on Ray and shook his hand and congratulated him afterwards. I'm sure those comments printed had to have been either the heat of the moment or just misconstrued by the reporters. It was a great meet, well run and competed, congrats to all that were there and gave it their all.
compete and jump safe, have fun
