Yes, I will send you a free DVD and other informational sheet that will help you understand the simplicity, yet effectiveness of the machine. Like I said before, two different vaulters have been Division I pole vault champions training on this device as well as 5 state champs in Nebraska.
The dvd will give you a short 10 minute overview of the machine and the drill that go along with it. If you would send your mailing address, either home or school, I would be glad to send you the material free. Thanks for getting back.

If this link doesn't work, go to www.uspto.gov and search for Patent # 6,932,744. The patent was just issued in August. The images that accompany the indecipherable text are hard to view but you can get the idea behind the device with a little effort.

I must say it looks more promising than any of the other training devices I've seen or heard of.

I was interested in this myself and looked into the patent. If the above links don't work for people, I have created a pdf file of the patent that I could make available. (The pdf file has the pictures along with the text.) If it was deemed appropriate by Becca, she could put the file on PVP. If she doesn't want to do that, I would post it on my site with a link. I could keep it there for quite a while if desired. Let me know. What say you Becca?

For those unfamiliar with reading patents, the pictures are probably the most important info. I've dealt with patents quite a bit so reading this was not that difficult. I did question the accuracy of one of the statements, and I was quite surprised that the patent examiner allowed several of the broad claims made. But that is all part of the patent game. The person submitting makes the claims as broad as they can and the examiner usually tries to cut them back.

you could also tie an old broken low flex pole to a wall, secure the rope at two points, and have the same effect.

I don't understand how you can swing upside on the thing without pulling since you have no momentum from a run up. The last thing I want to do is teach a kid to pull themselves upside down.

IMO, the best way to learn proper technique is progressive vaulting starting at 2-step and working back. You can be the king pimp of drills and contraptions, but none of it replaces actual vaulting.
