Our School REcord for guys is 14'6 and I've done that in practice with a bungee... :)

Our Record was set by Jeff Smith back in 1978.... That record NEEDS to be broken... and I think I'm a perfect candidate to break it my Senior year! :-D
PR - 14'6 in practice... 12'6 meet

I hold our high school record at 10'6. it was originally 8 ft then my sophmore year i got 8'6 and last year was 10'6. apperentaly pole vaulting isnt big in my school becasue we are so small but i hope to change that and my goal for next year is 11'6. hopefully i make it and get offered a scholarship somewhere.

i guess gymnast do have somewhat of an advantage. i know a lot of pole vaulters taht were former gymnast. i stuck with both of them though. but gymnast can do things wrong and not even realize it because of their flexibility. i know this girl that had a full ride for gymnastics and got hurt and went to college and they said try pole vault and she was decent at it and she stuck with it. and trust me gymnastics helps in many other sports and other things too. ;)

My School Record

Unread postby pcCMC8905 » Mon Aug 15, 2005 10:50 pm

I used to go to one of the biggest high schools in NY with a really good sports program, go to a REALLY small school in the middle of no where
My Old schools record:15-10
My New schools record:10-6

I broke the record at 12-6 but i get over 15 in practice on a 4 step (sometimes) with a bungee. I'm a sophomore too! :D
but my new schools coach know literally nothin about track or vaulting, so it sux.

I read in the paper in the spring that our high school record was broken with a jump of 9' 6" - FOR GUYS!! First, I don't think I would put that in the paper. Next, I guess they forgot that my brother jumped 15' 2" in 1973 and I jumped 14' 6" in 1971. It was pretty funny when friends started calling my parents. Have fun! Bubba
