What a cheap break.

Today I was vaulting, better than ever, I was vaulting on my big pole, 14'6" CarbonFX (14' flex 17.0). I decided it would be a good idea try my HUGE pole, 14'6" CarbonFX (14' flex 15.9) First try, rejected. Moved standards to 45cm. Next jump, I had a great approach, planted good, take off was good. Right when i start to swing the pole snaps approx. 1/3 the way up. the tip flew 200 feet away and now I wasted 400 bucks on 2 lousy jumps. I know there is no garauntee on poles but I got ripped off. I kept this pole in the tube, it was almost brand new. what a jip. I could of had a booming jump on that pole too. This pole was rated 30lbs over my weight also.

Did your pole hit the crossbar on any of the rejected jumps?
Did the pole hit he ground on any of the misses?
Did you spike the pole on aborted jumps?

The above are reasons why a pole will break especially CARBON that have nothing to do with the manufacturers.
All manufacturers flex their poles to insure they are safe when they leave the factory!!!

More questions? Are you jumping 10" with a 14' run on a 14'6" pole???

WHY?

I hate to see any brand pole break no matter if they are my competitor’s poles or not.
WOW I got to tell you something does not add up here?

30 lbs over your weight???? Did you take off the ground 3 feet under? Nope. Right on, 11'6" takeoff step. I wouldn't plant that far under.

I jumped 10' from 14' on a 12' pole holding about 9'. I vaulted 15'6" on a 14'6" (17.0 flexed as a 14').

Yeah I know something does not add up. This is a bad deal for me especially, I was going to have a huge jump on that pole.

Bruce is right, every manufac puts every pole through a very strick testing protocol. BUT once the pole leaves on a truck there are a million things that can happen to it as it travels from point A to point B. No matter how good the packing damage can occur with absolutley not sign on the tube. Stress (bangs in a warehouse) travels through the tube and into the pole. We refer to this as hidden shipping damage. We cant file a claim to get our $$ back from the shipping co because it was signed for complete and in good condition (shoot lets be honest most of the time someone who has no idea whats in there signs for it no matter what the condition of the package). The reason we still use cardboard is they are extremely strong yet will still show a bang like that as a dent in the tube. A plastic tube should break but if it does not you should be looking for a crease where it may look like it got banged. And for goodness sake always take the pole out of the tube and inspect it before signing for it.

As for your immediate problem contact the folks you bought the pole from and have them call Bryan (me......hehe) at gill. We have a process in place that may provide a possible remedy.

Ok that puts a different spin on this now. Yes if a Carbon has been dinged it will break. I would discuss this with the manufacturer hey they cannot be responsible for poles that were ok when they left the factory, but maybe just maybe they can work something out.

If ANY pole has been dinged it could cause it to break (not just a carbon). Inspect your poles very carfully to make sure something hasnt happened that you should be aware of.

That really bites. Only thing I can think of to offer some solace is to check with your credit card company if you recently purchased this pole.

Sometimes the CC company will warrant purchases against breakage or loss from ANY cause for a short period of time.
