Thanks, that did the trick. And I second your comments to Souleman. For me doing these calculations are fun and they effectively show me jumping comparitively jumping much higher now than I did as a teen or 20 something vaulter. That gives me a lot of satisfaction and motivation to keep jumping. I hope Souleman can see it in that light. Last week I had a rough vaulting week. Mostly from poor weather and then yesterday the sun came out and although it was not hot it was warm and the wind picked up and it was a tail wind and I had a great day vaulting from my short approach which is 6 lefts. I got on a pole(13'6" 175lb) I haven't jumped on from six strides in a couple of years and easily cleared 13'. I usually can clear a foot higher from my full approach so I am hopefull that my summer meets will go well. Hope all my masters vaulting buddies are getting it going for the summer meets, hope to see everyone on the runway and see them all get some great jumps.

Now THAT'S an activity that I can put my "age grade" numbers up against anyone. Not saying MORE than my teens and 20's but "better and smarter" than my teens and 20's. Ah Yes, cold beer! Dudes! This reminds me of being back in Germany!! We'd practice and head into the clubhouse for an after practice beer or 10!! It was a required part of the social experience!!!! Flash back!!!

I can't imagine anyone is terribly interested in this, but I decided to write a simple calculator for these new WMA decathlon PV factors. It accommodates individual year input and uses linear interpolation of the adjacent 5 year age-group factors for the individual year factor. If anyone uses it and finds something that seems inaccurate, let me know. Also, I didn't do the proper coding for verifying reasonable input values, so be warned that GIGO is alive and well. (Garbage In, Garbage Out)

I came across this article about age gradingand wanted to make it part of this topic. This was referenced in a recent blog post by Ken Stone at http://www.masterstrack.com/blog/. Read his May 27, 2005 post and be up to date on the release of the entire Age-Graded Tables. Note however, as far as pole vaulting is concerned, the table values incorporated into the calculator in my post preceding this one are what will be included in the full AGT release. Bottom line, we already have our factors.
