what do you want to see in a Pole Vault movie?

Unread postby wRock n Vault » Wed May 11, 2005 8:24 pm

Hey, okay, so I'm a senior in high school, aspiring to be a director. I'm currently trying to film a pole vault movie. I just wanted everyone's opinion out there on what they'd like to see in this movie that'll make it 1. Believable and 2. Entertaining. Just something pole vault junkies like myself can enjoy watching.
Trust me, all your opinions matter! Thanks.

wow, someone learning to vault to becoming an elite. I'm gonna need some real good actors. haha kidding.
That does sound pretty cool, cuz I was leaning towards more of a dramatic and inspirational film rather than a documentary or those repetitious, although addicting and enjoyable, clips of vaulters vaulting one after the other.
Thanks you guys. Keep the ideas coming. I'd like to put together something that all the members of polevaultpower will enjoy! :D

if you wanted it to be a long term project you could do it as a documentary on an "elite" high schooler and have it be about there journey through high school and college and eventually as an elite.

Even though the format has been done before, "The season" type of films I always find entertaining. It means you'd have to come back to your school next year and start filming in December and take it out to June. But you could follow the team or just an individual. It doesn't necessarily have to be the best vaulter in the state either. Sometimes the average to good vaulter will have more to offer a story line. The ups, the downs, the injuries etc. Could be good stuff if done right. If you wanted to write a fiction vaulting movie based on fact, take some of the story lines that are right here in the forum. Ex, Lancer vaulters' getting all caught up in the 6 jump rule only to find his coach had it wrong. So, he goes in all mentally prepared for one thing and finds another and jumps a foot under his PR. (dejection, and down)Then put the positive spin on it when he comes back a week later and wins conference.(ultimate yippee) Later..........Mike

Going around and interviewing/following vaulters of all different skill levels and wh they do it. a division 3 vaulter, a h.s. sophomore, a 50 year old guy who vaults with a local h.s., etc. That'd rule.
Fight the good fight: It's nice to be great but it's far greater to be nice.
