I Survived !!!!!
Ok, I can do this! Just got back from Flight Decks open practice and I'm still in one piece. The legs and the knees did remarkably well and other than the progressive onset of some stiffness, absolutely no pain anywhere. As to my jumping? I couldn't do the 30/ 40 feet approach thing that Bubba told me to stay under first tme out, it just seemed too close. I only moved it back maybe about 5 or 6 feet and still had a little studder step before take off.Steve Chris and Caroline said that will be easy to fix. Main focus in my mind was whether my legs could take it and I think they came through with flying colors. I only did I think maybe six take offs total and at least I got into the pit each time with a little turn. They kept telling me to quit landing on my feet. So let's see, pit height is about 4 feet so my come back pr stands right now at ......4 feet! It did feel good and the folks from Flight Deck that were there are very nice folks and will be very intramental in my coming back to this the correct way. I did a couple of jumps on a 12-70 they had there for me and then for old time sake I did a few with my old catapole. Man did that thing feel like a tree trunk after I jumped with that 12-70. All in all it was fun and I have got to do an awful lot of work to be ready by June 12th.I can't wait to do it again! Later................Mike

Dave, what can I say it just did. Could have been I needed a couple of more steps to convince myself, "Ok Mike, you're really going to get air borne this time". Hey, how 'bout that 4 foot come back pr? It was fun and it's about 8:30 my time which makes it about 9"30 your time so you probably won't read tis till tomorrow. Thanks again for all of your support. Later..........Mike

I was thinking that would be a good idea. As I was telling Bubba when I e-mailed him today that I was mainly concerned with how my legs would do today and to see if they could take it without buckling. It was 25 years ago but I can still remember what it felt like to look at my kneecap sittin' on top of my thigh. You guys are great and I can't wait for the next time. I've got so much to do before the 12th of June. I just hope I can get it done by then. Thanks again for letting me come and play. Later.....Mike

Jerry, That's what Chris and Steve want to do with me. It's the day after and I don't feel like I was in too big of a fight, but I can sure tell that I did something yesturday that my body hasn't been used too. The toughest thing for me is going to be taking all the baby steps in this process. Thanks again for all the support you guys. Believe me it does keep me going. Later.............Mike

Congrat's, Glad to hear you got it going. Patience is pretty important and starting short and getting it going correctly before you move on is really key. I have recently realized that I have been getting ahead of myself in my own training with insueing bad results. staying grounded and not getting ahead of ourselves is pretty important. Hope you stay with it and really see what you can accomplish.
