we launched the freshmen's shoes at cheerleaders at my school. i always want to hit the distance kids when the distance races are going on, it'd be like bowling for twigs (if you know what i mean).

Yeah i have the same problem, they go really high but we havent got any to go really far. And we have used all different kinds of poles too, 14 180, 15 170, 14 140, 12 135... but practically the same result except that the 180 and 70 launch them alot higher, but more strait up. anyone have any suggestions?

If you're one of the ones holding the pole, keep pushing forward and up when your partner lets go of the end - you can get a bit more distance this way while still getting the height.

Also - with alot of brute strength and something to stop the end with (edge of a wall, really heavy person, etc) - you can bend the pole sideways and launch them for distance - but I honestly think we about put a hole through our shed when the spike hit it.... :P

In my opinion.

I think that depends on what revision of Windows Media Player you have. I do like that single frame advance in Quick Time is controlled by the left and right arrow keys whereas with WMP you must click on a button. However, the free version of Quick Time does not allow me to play .mov files in slow motion, and the newer revs of WMP does. I like to watch in slow mo once I have studied the vault using single frame advance.

It's great there are options for people regarding computers, however we should never get so attached to our system that we do things to the exclusion of others. USMC Vaulter, I'll see if I can convert the files and I'll email them to you if I'm successful.

With regard to video and using them with the vault, I am more frustrated by video that wasn't de-interlaced than I am of which format it is presented in. I find it very distracting to look at single frame images with interlacing still present.

I think the reason I dont like windows media that much is that the Mac version isnt that great (or atleast it doesnt run that great on my comp) - I've been shown alot of its merits on Windows machines, so I'm not bashing it or anything - just not a big fan of it on my Mac.

Anyway - thanks John (master) for sending those files.
Everyone can check them out now at the following links.
(let me know if any of them dont work)

lol...My favorites are the first and third videos. The first one has some pretty good height and the third is just cool because it gets high and goes over a house. By the way, who's the guy who says "OH!" in every clip? :P
