bar in warmups

Unread postby Aviendha » Mon Mar 28, 2005 3:18 pm

is this allowed? i had a meet last saturday, and during warmup, one girl used the bar. it was really annoying, because then we had to wait for them to take it back down and put it up everytime she went...I was under the impression that bars weren't allowed in warmup. From all the conversation on here, it sounds like bungees are allowed, but i really thought bars were against the rules...

and speaking of rules...so the h.s. minimum standards are 18" now?? i'm surprised no one's said anything yet...unless they're not 18", and the coach running the meet was just confused?? any clarification?

The or bungee is not allowed to be used in warmups period. Also, im pretty sure the standard must be 18" but it may be 15.75" states could have diffrent standards as long as they meet the Minimum, becca or some1 else prolly knows.

You CAN use a bar or bungee in warmups, but not during a run-through once the competition has started. There is no rule in the rulebook that expressly forbids this.

The minimum standards setting is 15.5 inches or whatever the english equivalent of 40cm is.

I have seen a bungee used in meets and have asked an official who told me that this is legal (in south florida anyways). As for the standard thing at my first meet the man told us it was 15 and 3/4 or 16 or something like that. Does anyone have a rule book they could check?

I guess I was right when i said states do things diffrently, cause our minimum IS 18 inches and i have never seen a cross bar or bungee go up for warmups EVER.

Bar in Warm-ups: Meet Referee Policy

Unread postby jenjen8765 » Mon Mar 28, 2005 5:15 pm

Bars are allowed in warm-ups, but as an official and past competitor, I find them a bit annoying because of how they slow things down. It's almost as annoying as running steps back at a meet. It is up to meet management, and I recommend that those running meets make sure that what the policy is (especially if there's not time for bars) is made available in information packets or as part of instructions when the pit is opened for warmups to avoid problems.

Usually if you just stick a bungee up there, it keeps people from trying to put bars up.

Bungees and/or bars are legal in Illinois. Standards are 15 1/2 - 31 1/2

college standards are 45-80cms....or about 18-32.....ChC04Vault, you may have this confused with the minimum high school standards. And, I doubt that I have been at a meet where a cross bar or bungee didn't go up during warm ups...there is always one or the other.

We are not part of the MPSSAA which is marylands scholastic sports thing, seeing i was in private school (we are the MIAA) we had our own rules helmetes required and standards at least 18". I do not know what the MPSSAA rules were because i never jumped for a public school and meet that i went to i really never payed attenting to other set standards. Like i said, maybe they set a requirment to be even more strict thatn what the HS requirment is i dunno. It could be also that be because no coach LET their kids jump with close standards, but thats i dunno, like i said, MPSSAA and MIAA rules are totally diffrent but both me the minimum.
