my high school's mascot is a chanticleer (a fighting rooster)...."chants" for short. no other high school in America has that as their mascot. coastal carolina university has it as its mascot but i think thats it!

............also, the college i root for (u of nebraska of course!) is the cornhuskers (one who husks corn)...."huskers" for short. i dont believe any other school has that as their mascot either! :D (gee, aren't i cool?)

any other unique ones out there?

I dunno if its original, but our archirival school is the Dons (supposedly it is a Spanish Gentleman/Knight) , i've never heard of another school called that. And a school around here is called the lakers...cause the school is off lake avenue.

University of Delaware - the Flighting Blue Hens....

Hens??? Come on - why couldnt it have atleast been a cock (as in Cock fights - which is the type of animal it was named after - but noooooo we get stuck with a friggin hen)

With that said - YoUdee (the name of our mascot) is pretty cool lookin. And there is even a giant metal blue chicken statue thingy on the north end of campus.

See YoUDee here:

There's a high school (I think in Ohio) whose mascot is the "Tar Blooder" but is represented by a robot on the sidelines.

We were the Red Raiders in high school. a very common name, because atleast two other schools in massachusetts alone go by the same name...

Some teamnames are just weird. my girlfriend's school (Westford Academy, surprisingly a public school with the word "Academy" instead of high school. I've never seen that) is known as the "Ghosts". I just thought that was a weird mascot.
