So far nothing terribly exciting... Janine Whitlock and Natalya Belinskaya of Russia are out, but all the other major players are in, having cleared 4.55.

Isinbayeva has one miss so far at her opening height...

Women's Pole Vault 18:33    Isinbayeva (RUS), the Olympic champion and world record holder, has opted to pass at this height after her failure at 4.60m... she will only be allowed two failures at the next height...

Women's Pole Vault 18:48    Isinbayeva sails over at 4.70m now..

Women's Pole Vault 18:53    There are two other girls who have cleared the bar at 4.70m.. Monika Pyrek (POL) and Anna Rogowska (POL)

Women's Pole Vault 18:53    In fact, with Carolin Hingst (GER) failing for the third time at 5.70m - we are down to just three for the medals..

Rogowska and Pyrek go out at 4.80. Now Isinbayeva can put the bar wherever she wants. One can only assume she'll go for an indoor best of 4.90.

"Right now the bar is my only rival and the 5.00 barrier is well within my capabilities. Anyway a tougher rivalry would make me jump higher".

At least she is modest...
