You are compelled to check this site at least once a night despite what time it is or when you have to get up the next morning.

You are always the last one vaulting at practice...the other vaulters sometimes have to tell me that it is too dark and that we have to close up now...so take a "last" turn. Although "theflyingkorean" once tried to pull up his car to the track and shine his headlights on the runway. :P

You think of school in terms of how many vault seasons/summers you have left.

You wouldn't think of missing a practice for something like a dance.

At meets, you always hang around until the all of the sessions for the vault are over...and then go to any meet with pv even when you aren't competing (showing up to watch warm-ups, etc.).

These are so true man!! Me and a few obsessed vaulters back home vault til we can't see the runway anymore (or until we kicked off the track).

I too have missed a dance or two because i loved to pole vault more than dropping several bills on a suit and a date. I did it both junior and senior year, both were because prom was scheduled on the day of a track meet.

And the last one is soo true. I've watched girls jump, even helped out at some meets just to around the vault pit. Everyone says I'm Nuts!, that may be, but i just tell them when you love something so much, you just can't take your mind and eyes off of it.

Not that it really matters, but I'm a girl. Does that make me more obsessed for not even considering going to a dance instead of coming to practice? :P My coach is always telling us that since we are so obsessed we can always take one of our poles as a date to a dance ;)

Exactly!!!

You know you are obsessed with pole vaulting when:

You are falling from a 50 story building. One the way down, you realized that the only thing between you and one big splat is the flagpole sticking out the side of the building . . .

AND YOU VOLZ YOUR WAY BY IT!

I made a miniture runway box and pole in art and used rubber bands in this heavy duty art straw and my paper vaulter got 14" with him being 2" he is a decent jumper..Took me a while to rig up the swing release on flick

What poles are made of fiberglass now....

How exactly did you make this paper vaulter?

I'm interested in making this in class, if time permits.

I do several of the things that have already been listed. Also, when I'm at restaurants, I always use the plastic straws as poles and crossbars and use the straw wrappers as little "vaulters."
