Ekaterina Sultanova

Have been going through VaultnGus’s records and found the following:

Thorey went 14-09 indoors and 14-07.25 outdoors while at UGA in 2001. She had an outdoor mark for Iceland of 14-01.25 on 8/10/00.

Fanni went 13-03.50 indoors and 13-01.50 while at UGA in 2002 Last year, she went 13-11.25 indoor and 14-0 outdoor. She had an outdoor mark for Hungary of 13-07.25 on 7/26/01.

Yekaterina Sultanova has 12-10.75 (1/12/03), 14-01.25 (1/18/04), and 13-09.25 (5/23/04). Note: Gus’s records show the name to be Yekaterina rather than Ekaterina.

Talked to Vadim a bit at a KU indoor meet last year. He said at that time that KU was attempting to recruit a girl from his hometown in Russia who had gone 14 foot.

Ekaterina’s 14-1 PB seems to be a ¼ inch short of Thorey’s mark before beginning NCAA competition.

Need to make bit of a correction to my previous post.

The KU profile shows 14-1 to be the PB for Ekaterina. However, Gus’s records show 14-1.25 for Yekaterina which would TIE her with Thorey's mark before beginning NCAA.

I think Fanni started UGA a semester before I did, spring of 2002. She's about my age, no more than 1 year older than me, so I think in the end her eligibility ended up about matching her age.

You may be correct. I remember speaking to her at nationals last year and aksing her if she is looking forward to next year. She said that she was going to be back at UGA but done eligibility wise.

Fanni is cool she jumps with us and is almost on one of my poles (she will be on it very soon).

Nothing wrong with being beaten by a girl. Deena Dial kicked my **s at a meet in San Marcos in 2000.
