Sucks for me! I bought a hockey helmet about 3 or 4 months ago, and now there is the new vaulting helmet!

I'm impressed! They really go indepth into the construction of the helmet. Good use of technology. $99 is a bit pricey if you ask me, but if it saves lives, then i guess its worth it. I wouldn't mind seeing some impact testing data comparing this helmet with other skating/biking helmets that are out there just to back up its credibility.

I don't know, even if I'm being safe with helmets, I'm not sure if I'd spend 100 bucks on it. I'd wait until I got a couple more hundred and just buy a pole. lol

Do they have product liability insurance or is the company self insured?

There is nothing that says the helmet will protect you from a broken neck?

It is the best design I have seen, however I still have my reservations!

I do not recommend state associations make it manditory allowing it optional is fine.

Here's what I think...

If you want to wear a helmet, fine. I don't think there should be rules requiring them.

$100 for a helmet though? Most skateboard helmets are $40 as I recall. Maybe these are more expensive to make? I don't know. I'd like to see how much they cost in a year or two when there are other brands on the market.

All these "products" trying to make the event safer. Bigger pits, extra padding, pole vault helmets, soft boxes... it seems like such an American attitude: "If we throw enough money at the problem it will go away." We are pricing the event out of the high schools and even some of the colleges.

I'm with Devereaux, I think our time and energy would be better spent improving coaching in this country. I wish every state high school association would realize what Washington did: the equipment is not the issue, the coaching is.

A camp is a lot cheaper and you may vault safer.

Bike helmets will protect you from a fall the same height of a bike!

Think about that. A fall in the box will be head injury there has to be something better.
