Trials Women on Neo Vault, did Suttle kick her pole?

Unread postby Neo Vaulter » Sat Jul 24, 2004 1:31 am

Is it me or does it look like Kellie kicked her pole on that jump or at least on a previous jump?

I can't tell if she kicked it, but after watching it twice, I thought it was pretty funny that after the break, flip and walking off the pit, she still had to PRY her top hand from the pole.

Kicking the pole while at full load can break a pole

Kicking the pole while at full load can break a pole

After viewing some very slow motion video provided by NeoVaulter. We believe this to be so!

ON a single frame her spike seems to scratch the pole as the label looks splintery and then the pole breaks the frame after.

We have sent the film to Earl Bell and Kellie for further comments and will share those with you as soon as they have had time to look at it.

WOW
Yes you are right in the video it is like it it is glued on to her hand. LOL

It makes one think how could she let go of the pole with that much adhesive????

it looks like she bent that over 90 degrees and because of that she was able to reach it with her spike and kick it... i think that had she not kicked it i still would have broken because of how loaded the pole was... hehe was sweet to show the world that a girl could blast thru a pole like that tho... i wonder what the weight of pole and her weight was...

if your implying she was on a pole "rated lower than her weight" im sure that the flex on her pole was not high enough to be considered "under her weight". shes an elite vaulter. come on

KELLIE SUTTLE BIO

A 14'3"- 162.0 lbs test ESSX pole
I doubt that she weighs more than 129 lbs as she is very lean
However have you ever gotten an honest
answer about a womans weight? :D

You could ask her!
She is on this site as "pvkellie" ;)
She checks her email and this site often while traveling and vaulting in Europe.

When creating a longer swing one can extend the foot out beyond the pole without overbending it.
:D

That Pole is not loaded bad at all. The only reason why it broke is because she kicked it. I originally thought that maybe it had a ding in it, because she is not in a bad position at take off and the pole does not apear to be the wrong selection.
PS- Most Elite vaulters bend there poles clear past 90 degrees. Get on Darfish and check it out.

LETTER FROM KELLIE in ATHENS

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Tue Aug 10, 2004 7:31 am

LETTER FROM KELLIE in ATHENS
Hey EVERYONE! (Friends and fans)

Well, I am in Athens as of now and just went through
processing, what a pain! We head out in about an hour to go to Crete. I will
train there until the 17th and then I will move to the village that night! I
will stay there until the games are over. It's just like arkansas here, hot
and humid! It's been really busy and stressful, but everything will settle
down here in the next 24 hrs. Anyhow, not sure about opening ceremonies
yet! I have a bit of a groan issue and I think being on my feet for six
hours could be a bad deal. It will be a last minute call! Athens is nice,
what I have seen. The village is real close to how Sydney was, not quite as nice!
ANyhow, take care and keep in touch!

Kellie Says

Unread postby Bruce Caldwell » Wed Aug 11, 2004 5:30 am

I just spoke with Kellie from Athens 12:55pm there 4:55 AM here.
She wants all to know that she did not feel the pole on here foot and wants to look at the slow motion of the vault I got from Neo Vault when she gets back.

She is going to give it her all in the Games and wants all to tune in and give her support.
