Clovis is a blast! I went the first time after winning the "girls division" at the holy cross meet that you were talking about. Be prepared for the heat! I definately wasn't and you start warming up around 3 or 4 oclock when it is about 105 out. After I lived in Fresno for 2 years I was a little more prepared. I think everyone who has been there will agree that you want to stay on Coach Fraley's good side. If you piss him off he will hold it against you for life.
Anyway, Have a great time, play up the crowd and don't come in to high, A NH is probably the worst thing you can do!

Does anyone know what the opening height will be at Clovis?

probably something pretty low because the spectators like to see people make lots and lots of bars

I think when we were there in 2002 the bar started at 15' or 15' 6" for guys, I don't remember the height for girls but it started very low that year. It may have been the first year the girls vaulted there.

Yeah last year it started at 14' or 15'. It's a split bar with a 4 foot difference, so it was starting at 10' or 11' for the girls.

My friend and I are thinking about going, but the cost for us to get from Tallahassee, FL to Clovis isn't easy money.

You have to qualify to jump in the meet. You qualify by winning your qualifying meet, being part of NAPVA, or being a stud vaulter that is friends with Fraley.

I did not no that. Thanks for the heads-up or else we would have looked stupid showing up with poles and not jumping!

GOOD LUCK to all those vaulting everywhere, but especially the US guys. And those poor souls just starting on the professional circuit trying to make a buck or two  . I hope thats me next summer
