i heard somewhere that they are like kind of a crappy skypole...i think they are bestflex callibrated and have the same weight label as gill poles

if i only knew wat that meant.. bestflex callibrated. hah..adn it might be.. never tried b4 bu ti think it would be cooler cuase it bends alot and wings u up into the air :) like my pv terms haha :P

bestflex is gill's system of rating poles i believe

pacer poles that i use are so stiff, and spirit poles seem to bend without much effort. i like the feel of spirit over pacer.

At the high school where I coach, we have mostly Gill poles (Skypoles, Pacer, and Mystic). The girls and boys seem to do very well with them. We also have a couple of Cata-Poles (the newer ones made by BSN which are actually labelled Fibersport/Porta-Pit), a couple of Spirits, and several Altius. Frankly, they all seem to work well.

The most important thing seems to be to have the right pole to fit the vaulter at his/her particular stage of physical and technical development (while still complying with the NFHS weight rule). This means buying a lot of poles, but it really is essential especially for high school vaulters who are likely to get stronger and faster and improve their technique as the season progresses.

This season I had a boy who started with a 12'4"-160 Altius, and gradually worked his way up through several 13-160's (Skypoles and Pacers), then a couple of 13-165's, a 13'6"-160, and then finally a 13'6-165 (and he was blowing through that at the last meet with his standards all the back at 31.5"/80 cm...but we had not brought the 14-160 to the meet! - which was probably what he needed next).

I've dealt with several manufacturers via e-mail and on the phone. I've had great experiences with all of them (Gill, Altius. Spirit, ESSX). They all will go out of their way to help you, talk with you, and get you what you need as quickly as possible.

5.40 on a 13'6" Wow, good jump? Has that ever been done?

Ive always used Altius poles... 99% of the poles my school has are Altius.

But to be honest, it doesnt much matter to me what kind it is.
