work out plans for pole vault
i am new on this message board and its my first year pole vaulting i realy enjoyed it. i am vaulting 7 i dunno if that is good but i am trying to pole vault for college.. any way is there any workouts i can do to get me inshape ??? help me out i want to tone my body and be fit .. :

WElcome to the Forum.
For a workout to get you in shape I would say do a lot of sprints and runs, anything from 30-40meter sprints(pole runs basically) to a few 100's to work on overall speed. For lifting I like to do more upperbody since my legs get strong enough from the running. So I do bench press, incline press, shoulder/military press, Lat pull downs, pushups, crunches, and dips. Also as stated in another post, any core(abs, back) work will help tremendously. Also if you do get any runway or vault time this summer do as many drills as you can. Hope this helps.

if you are a seven foot vaulter i would say this is the most important thing, i mean sprint drills and all are very good and getting yourself stronger, but you will gain gymnastic strength on the runway when you vault, drillls drills drills
