Led by Loren Duvall's record-busting performance, host Mark Morris vaulted to the top of the boys standings Friday at the Class 3A District IV track and field championships at Longview Memorial Stadium.
The Monarchs will send six individuals and two teams to state, while Kelso qualified eight individuals and RAL saw both of its competitors advance. The Class 3A state championships will be held May 28-29 at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco.
The district's top three placers from each event qualified for state.
For MM (66 team points), which edged River Ridge (65) for the district title, Duvall set new school, stadium and district meet records with a 15-foot, 6-inch mark in the pole vault, tying his personal record. Duvall's height shattered previous district meet mark ---- his own ---- of 14-3.
