of course i'm not exactly sure what the rules are and people can always petition the ncaa for anything it seems


In the NCAA you have 5 years to use your eligibility once you start school. If you take a year off, your clock is still ticking. I am not sure how all those Mormon guys do it... maybe they get a waiver. Most people who get a 6th year in the NCAA got a medical redshirt.

In the NAIA you have 10 semesters. And they don't have age restrictions. And they don't drug test. And they don't do a lot of other things *shrug*
