Re: Effect of Elevated Runways on Elite Pole Vault Performance
Good morning,
It's been a long time since I visited PVP... Thanks Becca for keeping it going..
I like the research from these studies.... Looking forward to getting to the office an downloading them for future review...
I would like for those that love the science to go to www.oneapproachrun.com and download a copy of my Pole Vault chart and compare the velocities, stride lengths, grip heights and COM... Will be interesting to compare the numbers...
I created the chart mathematically from numbers I collected from eight vaulters, 14 and 16 footers, in 1971... In the Fall of 1974 Earl Bell was working with a 50ft/15.30-six step "Mid" a 14-10 grip, 8.3mps and a PR of 16-8...
I imagine the research (physics) will be close to those numbers...
Keep me in formed...

Re: Effect of Elevated Runways on Elite Pole Vault Performance
This study seems to indicate that Lavillenie would have better speed on an elevated indoor runway vs outdoors on a normal runway as he is one of the slowest 6m vaulters over the last 5m of the run ( 9.49 ). Or, is he still to fast to gain any benifit?
