i'm not sure there is a whole lot you can do to get rid of em...but try taping your arches (don't let the tape go all the way around your foot) and then tape around the bottom of your shin (let this one go all the way around) it is a new way that my coach just told me about and it works well. you might want to get some little dixy cups and freez some water in them and then rub those on your chins...try to use spikes as little as possible...run on soft stuff when ya can...and some anti-inflamitory med might help too-it helped me a lot. good luck dude
hey what was that!?! well it was suposed to be a 360, but it turned into a 180 and munch! AIMEE*HAFEN

yup, i've had 'em all season too. see when your legs get inflamed it's hard to get circulation all the way through so they tend not to heal as fast as a regular injury. try 20 min. ice, 20 min. heat, 20 min ice, etc.

Shin Splints
Go to a health food type store and in the Vitamin section...in the vitamin C group... get Calcium Absorbate. It has magnesium in it. Take two in the morning and two at night. The first time Jodie tried it her shin splints were gone in THREE days. Now we just keep it on hand so if they start bothering her she starts taking it! I know it sounds hokie...but try it. It is about $13 a bottle....but IT WORKS!
That's Jodie!!

I haven't really had problem with shin splints, but my sis has. She takes a tennis ball to practice everyday and when they start to really hurt, she rolls the tennis ball on her shins, on the sides of the bone. She says it helps a lot.

I've struggled with shin splints in the past, and that sounds like it would hurt like heck

yea i have had them since XC in h.s. they hurt but just make sure to not beat them too hard by pounding on them. take IB profen and ice a lot. ice helps. maybe get orthodics in your shoes, a friend of mine did that and it helped...

This was my first year vaulting that i got shin splints too, what ive been doing is taking ice baths on my legs for 15 mins before every practice, 3 minutes at a time with 1 minute rest between each set. On days of meets i do it for 30 minutes, it'll hurt at first but just take the pain and it will help you. The taping of the arches also works.
