13' to 14' Pole transition

Unread postby Harry44 » Tue Apr 27, 2004 12:52 am

I'm trying to transition from 13' 180 skypole to a brand new 14' 180 spirit.

i blow through the 13' holding at the top but even lowering my grip considerably i can't get in the pit using the 14' 180. i've tried a 160 14' pacer(older pole) but had even less luck. Any suggestions?

That is a large jump in poles. Also, try holding the same whereyou hold on the 13' on the 14'. I would reccomend trying whatever handgrip you have on the 13' pole on the 14'-60 and make sure you press and hold at the bottom. The timing changes a lot from the 13-14.

yeah timing is very different on a 14 compared to a 13 foot pole. i remember when i first got on the 14's i would always plant either really early or really late, but then i just worked with a slide box for a week straight and fixed it.

It all depends on how high you hold and how high you are jumping???

SO how much do you hold on the poles?
and how high do you jump???

A 1 foot jump is tough if you are jumping under your handhold!!!

i made the 1 foot transition in poles and for me so far its been a feat to accomplish getting into the pit but after 2 days of working on it and changing my step, plant and my swing just a bit not to mention long practices ive managed to reach the pit now its all just downhill from here dont get discouraged and work hard.......good luck
