I think it'd be fun to fiddle around with the push plant- unfortunately I can't because my school's box has a really bad lip. Any tips on how to fix it?
Thanks!
Lori

Could you describe the problem a little better?
If there's a gap in the front, you can take out the box, use asphalt patch from Wal-Mart or any other hardware store and put plastic over it and just must the box down into it while its soft.
You can cut a piece of roll out runway so that it extands through the takeoff area and over the lip of the box . . .

If it's a minor problem, have you tried lip balm? If it's something major like a hair lip, nothing short of surgery will help.

in HS, there was a school we vaulted at that had a really bad lip on it, but luckily it was just set into a hole dug in the dirst, so we found a shovel, pried up the box and dug it out a few more inches. The kids and coaches from the other school got mad when they saw us doing it until we explained to them that we were making it safer and that their kids would jmp higher because of what we were doing.

I can imagine the look on his face.

Mallet
I'm with you on the mallet idea...just carry a rubber mallet with you to track meets and maybe some duct tape...maybe you could try to make it smooth with the duct tape on the edge??

That's Jodie!!

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
